The Renewable Sparks is currently delivering a comprehensive electrical, mechanical and renewable energy package for a new 38-apartment residential development in Cambridge.

The project demonstrates the breadth of our capabilities, bringing together the electrical infrastructure, renewable energy, ventilation, life-safety systems and EV charging requirements of a modern multi-residential development under one coordinated package.

Full Electrical Installation

Our team is responsible for the complete electrical installation across all 38 apartments, together with the landlord and communal electrical systems serving the wider development.

The works encompass the electrical infrastructure required to take the development from construction through to a fully tested, commissioned and compliant installation.

Our electrical scope includes:

• Complete electrical installations to all 38 apartments

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery

Each apartment incorporates a dedicated Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system, providing controlled ventilation while recovering heat that would otherwise be lost through extracted air.

Our works include the installation and commissioning of the MVHR systems throughout the development, forming an important part of the project's approach to indoor air quality and energy efficiency.

Delivering the ventilation alongside the electrical works also allows both systems to be coordinated from the outset, reducing clashes and simplifying installation and commissioning.

32kW Three-Phase Solar PV System

Renewable energy forms another major element of the project, with The Renewable Sparks delivering a 32kW three-phase solar photovoltaic system.

The commercial-scale PV installation will generate renewable electricity on site, helping reduce the development's reliance on grid-supplied electricity and contributing towards lower operational carbon emissions.

Our renewable energy team is responsible for the installation, electrical integration, testing and commissioning of the PV system as part of the wider electrical infrastructure.

EV Charging Infrastructure

With EV charging increasingly becoming an essential part of modern residential developments, the project also includes extensive electric vehicle charging infrastructure within the underground car park.

Our works incorporate the electrical infrastructure and installation required to support EV charging points for residents, with the charging system integrated into the wider electrical design of the development.

Careful consideration of electrical demand, distribution and load management allows EV charging to be incorporated without unnecessarily increasing the overall electrical capacity required by the development.

Underground Car Park Infrastructure

The underground car park requires its own substantial electrical installation.

Our scope includes the installation of containment, distribution, lighting, power and EV charging infrastructure, together with the associated life-safety systems.

These services have to be carefully coordinated with the other building services running throughout the car park, making early planning and coordinated installation particularly important.

Emergency Lighting & Fire Protection

Life-safety systems form a critical part of any multi-residential development.

The Renewable Sparks is delivering the emergency lighting and fire protection systems required throughout the communal areas of the development, with installations completed, tested and commissioned in accordance with the relevant design requirements and standards.

Integrating these systems with the wider electrical package provides a coordinated approach to installation, containment, power supplies, testing and final commissioning.

Lightning Protection

The project also incorporates a dedicated lightning protection system, providing protection to the building and its electrical infrastructure against the effects of lightning strikes.

The system forms part of the wider protection strategy for the development and is coordinated with the building's electrical and renewable energy installations.

One Coordinated Package

Projects of this scale involve considerably more than simply wiring individual apartments.

Electrical distribution, apartment installations, ventilation, solar PV, EV charging, external services, car park infrastructure and life-safety systems all need to operate together as part of one building.
